Asia Pacific’s Expanding Satcom Market

The Asia Pacific region is fast becoming one of the most exciting markets for the satcom industry. According to market intelligence firm ReAnIn, the region’s fixed satellite services (FSS) market is projected to grow by a solid  CAGR of 7.04% from 2025 to 2030, making it the fastest growing FSS market globally. Rapid digital expansion, increased demand for high-speed connectivity, and challenges around terrestrial infrastructure are all key growth drivers in the region.

Asia Pacific’s physical geography includes challenging terrain such as mountainous regions, tropical forests and jungles, as well as island nations and archipelagos. There are also vast populations living in rural and remote areas which are often lacking in infrastructure. As a result of the region’s geography and distinct characteristics, terrestrial networks are cost prohibitive in many areas, and asignificant proportion of the region’s population still does not have access to reliable connectivity. In those areas underserved by terrestrial networks, satellite is often the only means of accessing connectivity.

Rising demand for satellite technology

Satellite therefore plays a critical role in providing broadband connectivity and vital services to residential and enterprise users, as well for oil and gas, mining operations, disaster response, and government and defence. Given that fixed satellite services are so important in the region, it’s not surprising then that the VSAT (very small aperture terminal) market is also booming. A report by market analyst Grand View Research shows that Asia Pacific is the fastest growing regional VSAT market and is projected to reach USD 1,462.0 million by 2030. In terms of revenue, the region accounted for 22.9% of the global VSAT market in 2023.

Earth Observation (EO) is another key growth driver for the region, particularly because countries in the region are exposed to a relatively high incident rates of extreme weather and natural disasters, from typhoons and floods to earthquakes and tsunamis. Satellite based Earth Observation is critical in supporting countries across the region to address environmental challenges, improve environmental and climate monitoring, and enhance disaster management capabilities.

Ground equipment requirements

In areas where satellite is the only means of connectivity, it provides the population with a lifeline to the outside world, and any disruption to service can therefore have dire consequences. This is also true in mission critical applications such as disaster response, defence and government. In all of these scenarios, it’s essential that ground equipment is of the highest quality and is reliable.

Given the geography of the region, ground infrastructure needs to be able to withstand extreme conditions because it may well be exposed to extreme heat, heavy rainfall, high humidity, salt-laden coastal air, and frequent severe weather events such as typhoons and monsoons. Low quality equipment will quickly degrade in these kinds of conditions so high-quality, ruggedised equipment is a must. Another key consideration is that VSAT installations may well be in remote or hard-to-access locations, ranging from islands and rural regions to mountainous regions where maintenance and rapid repair are difficult and costly. This makes high uptime and durability essential.

Ground infrastructure therefore needs to be engineered for durability and reliability but also for performance to enable precise tracking for accuracy, as well as high directional capabilities for dependable service.

RF solutions to meet the region’s specific needs

Global Invacom is a British company with more than 30 years’ experience creating innovative RF solutions for a range of applications, from satellite communications to broadcast TV, defence and Earth Observation. Our team of skilled engineers is continually innovating to ensure we always deliver the best solutions for our customers.

Through our extensive market experience, we are able to offer a comprehensive RF portfolio, including VSAT & Gateway antennas, as well as Ground Station solutions for EO, ISR and communication. In 2026 we released our latest range of multi-orbit terminals (XY), Flat Panel Antennas, and innovative high-performance transceivers, suitable for both commercial and defence applications.

Through Global Foxcom, the group can provide RF-over-Fibre (RFoF) solutions for those use cases where RF signals need to be transmitted over long distances without signal loss. Designed to deliver reliable, high-performance signal transmission in all environments, our RFoF solutions are ideally suited to mission-critical applications including defence, airborne, and remote use cases.

Our Waveguide team has 87 years of experience in the design, consultation, and manufacture of flexible, rigid and bespoke integrated waveguide products. Our waveguides are trusted and used by many of the world’s leading companies in defence, aerospace, medical, naval, and satellite communications.

For those companies who need ground station services, we have jointly founded eNexus a Ground Station-as-a-Service provider which delivers data collected by satellites across multiple orbits for a wide range of applications, including Earth Observation. This approach negates the need for operators to own and operate their own satellite ground stations

Meet Global Invacom at SatelliteAsia 2026

With the APAC region being one of the most dynamic and fast-growing markets right now, the forthcoming SatelliteAsia show is a must attend event. Global Invacom will of course be heading to Singapore to showcase how our innovative range of RF solutions meet’s the regions specific needs.

The Global Invacom team will be at Satellite Asia from 20th – 22nd May. Call by booth 4G1-7 to find out more about our innovative RF solutions or get in touch to book a meeting.
