Introducing the TerraLink 370 EO Transportable Terminal!

While many are enjoying summer holidays, including some of our staff too of course,  over the past few weeks, we’ve been busy integrating the first TerraLink 370 EO Transportable Terminal at our Accrington, UK facility.

For anyone not aware, the TerraLink 370 EO is a complete, multi-orbit tracking antenna for Earth Observation ground station service providers and operators, with standard S/X band RF and alternative available with additional Ka-band capabilities.
The transportable terminal that we’ve recently been working on to accompany the TerraLink 370 EO, was developed for a Ground Station-as-a-Service (GSaaS) customer. It’s been developed to jump-start greenfield sites, as well as subsequent redeployment for future sites, as well as augment capability, and enhance service recovery.

After a busy couple of weeks, the Transportable Terminal has come together, and is now undergoing final integration and test. As this is the first of this configuration, we are testing and optimizing installation and de-installation process, to make the process as easy as possible for this first customer as well as for other customers down the line. Additionally, the parts and configuration are now firmly established, which will help to enable a short delivery time for this customer and future customers.

The Transportable configuration utilises three standard short shipping containers, for both shipping to site and to serve as a base for the antenna and radome.  Water tanks can be filled on-site for ballasting. It is a highly robust solution, and initial customer deployments are planned at high latitude (with periodically extreme conditions) locations.

Based on location, suitable heaters and/or air-conditioning units are available for quick connection, and in addition to the shipping materials, the containers also afford space for ancillaries, tools, and supplies. The container space, as well as the protective radome, are also extremely valuable when working in extreme or volatile weather conditions!

Whether in the standard configuration for pad/frame/rooftop or in this Transportable configuration, the TerraLink 370 EO is shipped pre-configured, pre-tested, with well-established management and monitoring tools, and interfaces to easily integrate into an existing network.
